1776 Action Senior Fellow, Communism Survivor Xi Van Fleet Makes a Splash

1776 Action Senior Fellow and survivor of the Chinese Cultural Revolution Xi Van Fleet is once again generating media buzz over her denunciation of CRT and its slander of American history.

“In Mao’s China where I grew up… you can only do things you’re told to do. You can only think the way you’re allowed to think. Everything is controlled,” she told the Washington Examiner in a feature news article“The problem today is that the people haven’t been taught real history. People haven’t been taught what communism is all about. That’s why when communism showed up at our front door in a different kind of a disguise, people have no clue what it is.”

Xi has been an outspoken opponent of CRT for years, and spoke at 1776 Action’s “Rally to Save our Schools” in Loudoun County, Virginia, in 2021. Her powerful testimony highlights the similarities between communist ideology and other Marxist-inspired ideologies like CRT and radical gender theory.

In a now-viral exchange with leading CRT advocate and ‘1619 Project’ author Nikole Hannah-Jones last month, Xi blasted Jones for rejecting the idea of American exceptionalism. “Yourself and I, an immigrant from China with 200 borrowed dollars in my pocket when I arrived more than 30 yrs ago, are the proof of American Exceptionalism,” she tweeted

Xi also became a leading critic of Democrats in her home state of Virginia after they opposed requirements that schools teach the evils of communism.

We are thrilled to have Xi representing 1776 Action as a Senior Fellow. Stay tuned for more from her and us moving forward!
