U.S. House Candidate Brandon Michon Signs ‘The 1776 Pledge’ to Restore Honest, Patriotic Education
Michon commits to opposing CRT, anti-American indoctrination in K-12 classrooms
As education continues to be a top issue heading into midterm elections this fall, Brandon Michon, Republican candidate for Virginia’s 10th Congressional District, committed to taking action to restore honest, patriotic education by signing “The 1776 Pledge to Save Our Schools.”
Brandon has been on the front lines of this fight since concerns about CRT and politicized education first began making headlines more than a year ago. As a father, Brandon stood up to his local school board’s attempts to indoctrinate his children, an effort that helped inspire others to do the same. In signing this Pledge, Brandon joins more than 400 other candidates and elected officials from around the country, including South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, and a growing number of U.S. House and Senate candidates who have made a similar promise to oppose the radicalization of K-12 classrooms.
Pledge signers commit to taking concrete steps to:
- Restore honest, patriotic education that cultivates in our children a profound love for our country.
- Promote a curriculum that teaches that all children are created equal, have equal moral value under God, our Constitution, and the law, and are members of a national community united by our founding principles.
- Prohibit any curriculum that pits students against one another on the basis of race or sex.
- Prevent schools from politicizing education by prohibiting any curriculum that requires students to protest and lobby during or after school.
Brandon Michon issued the following statement about his decision to sign The 1776 Pledge:
“I launched my campaign for Congress to fight back against the insidious anti-American ideologies that are spreading like wildfire in our schools. It’s time for parents, teachers, and students to stand up to this attempt to hijack our education and restore integrity to our classrooms. That’s why I’m proud to sign ‘the 1776 Pledge’ and make a concrete commitment to the people of the Virginia 10th that I will never give in to the woke crusade and always fight for traditional American values.”
Adam Waldeck, President, 1776 Action, issued the following statement applauding Michon for taking the Pledge:
“Brandon Michon is one of the brave parents who helped launch the parents’ rights movement in Virginia. He is a fearless warrior for our movement, and we are thrilled that he has signed ‘the 1776 Pledge.’ Brandon knows first-hand what it will take to make progress on this issue as a Member of Congress.
1776 Action launched in March 2021 to combat anti-American indoctrination in K-12 schools with support from Dr. Ben Carson (a former member of the 1776 Commission) and Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Through targeted messaging campaigns, the group has helped to advance anti-CRT policies across the country, most notably in Virginia, New Hampshire, Iowa, and South Dakota.
