Youngkin Delivers on ‘The 1776 Pledge’ and Newt Gingrich Praises Governor’s CRT Ban

Jan 18, 2022 – This past weekend, newly-inaugurated Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin made banning CRT and other divisive concepts his FIRST action upon taking office. If you’ll remember, then-candidate Youngkin promised to do just that by signing ‘The 1776 Pledge’ last May. Through this action, Governor Youngkin is delivering on his pledge and leading the way to ensure that every student in his state receives an honest, patriotic education. To mark this victory and highlight just how much of an impact we are having – all thanks to your support – we released a new ad highlighting this accomplishment. You can watch it here or below:

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, who helped launch our organization last year, also had this to say about Governor Youngkin’s action and our role in helping make it happen:

“In 2022, all of us are going to have a choice to make.

Will we begin to root out the radical political predators who’ve been destroying our schools, or will they continue to lie, obfuscate, and indoctrinate our children and grandchildren to believe that America’s history and values are evil?

From the beginning, I’ve been a supporter of 1776 Action because they have the initiative and the know-how to drive this debate, ensure people understand the stakes, and actually help to fix this very dangerous problem.

Case in point is Virginia, where Glenn Youngkin – one of the very first signers of their 1776 Pledge – just took concrete action to ban Critical Theory in Virginia’s public schools just moments after being sworn in as Governor. And because he knows this fight won’t end with the stroke of a pen, he is appointing outspoken CRT opponents to key positions in his administration.

I do not believe this would have been possible without the aggressive work of 1776 Action.

I’ve been privileged to play a role in two massive political movements in my life – first the Reagan Revolution of 1980, and the Republican Revolution of 1994.

In both cases, we were able to do great things for this country.

Right now, I believe we are staring another potential realignment in the face.

The Big Government Socialists have become so hateful, so aggressive, and so radical that patriots of all colors, creeds and backgrounds are creating an entirely new coalition that I believe has the power to save this nation.

In this fight, 1776 Action has shown a willingness to run to the sound of the guns, and an ability to deliver measurable wins for all of us who believe America is an exceptional nation worthy of defending.”

In the months ahead, with your support, we will continue to fight for policies like the one just signed by Governor Youngkin in every state to ensure that hate-fueled ideologies have no place in our schools.
